One of the things I most consistently admire about France and French culture is the importance of meals. On one of our summer road trips, we stopped for lunch at a snack bar in a rural area in the Alps. Despite having mostly sandwiches, it came in a multi-course menu, complete with dessert and a coupon to properly end the meal with an espresso. Everything tasted fresh and delicious, prepared with a great amount of care. Many people did go back to the counter for their coffee after they had finished eating. We learned the snack bar is a 30-year old family-owned and run business.
We stumbled upon it and simply made a stop there because it had an electric car charging station. I suspect the owner did not have any input on the placement of the station. Based on the customer traffic he draws, I imagine there could be an application process or a way to express interest in tools and infrastructure that would be valuable to both small business owners and the companies deploying these infrastructure solutions.
I am not terribly familiar with retail and commerce tech and data solutions, but if there were an evolving dataset (public or private) including traffic patterns, visitor volume, and store or restaurant foot traffic, for example, applications and software solutions could be layered onto it to the benefit of existing and prospective small businesses. If you are working on innovative solutions in that space, please email me or fill out this form. I look forward to hearing from you!
